Dear Owners and Residents,
Issued at 11:24 Friday 03 March 2023
Significant winter storm with dangerous travel conditions expected tonight. Friday, March 3, 2023.
Hazards:
Significantly reduced visibility due to heavy snow and blowing snow.
Total snowfall accumulations of 20 to 30 cm.
Snowfall rates of 5 to 8 cm/h possible.
Rapidly accumulating snowfall creating hazardous travel conditions.
Timing:
This evening into Saturday morning. The most dangerous conditions are expected between about 9 P.M. and midnight when snowfall rates may be 5 to 8 cm/h.
Discussion:
A Texas low is expected to bring heavy snow and strong winds to a large swath of southern Ontario. Snow will begin this evening and quickly become heavy at times. Heavy snow in combination with strong easterly winds will create significantly reduced visibility and hazardous travel conditions.
###
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow.
Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ONstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
Please exercise due caution while entering and exiting the property as snow and ice clearing operations may be impacted by the current weather conditions.
Kind regards,
